SOC 254 - Sociology of Youth A social-psychological analysis of adolescence and the changing position of youth in society throughout history. The course examines both social structural conditions that have created adolescence as a position of uncertainty and vulnerability in modern society, as well as diverse subcultures which youth have created as collective responses to this position. Cross-cultural and generational comparisons of adolescence will also be examined.
Prerequisite: SOC 100 or SOC 133 or SOC 136 3 hours a week 1 semester 3 credits. Fall
