CHE 301 - Quantum Mechanics and Structure
CHE-349/CHE-350
Introduction to the basic principles of quantum mechanics, with topics including wave-particle duality, the Schrodinger equation, the solutions to the Schrodinger equation for the particle in a box, the particle on a ring/sphere, the harmonic oscillator, and the Hydrogen atom. Chemical applications of quantum mechanical principles include the electronic structure of atoms, chemical bonding in molecules and molecular spectroscopy. Use of computational resources for predicting molecular structure will be included.
