HS 444 - Principles of Alcoholism and Addictions Counseling


This course will introduce the student to the field of alcoholism and addictions counseling skills. It provides for the integration of theory and practice as it relates to the delivery of comprehensive service to: addicted persons, their families, and significant others; special populations; the community; and the work force. Included in the course are the following topics: Code of Ethics, Federal guidelines relative to confidentiality and its application to HIV clients; evaluation and treatment planning; and relapse prevention.

 

 

 

 

 

Prerequisite: HS 411 or HS 412
3 hours a week 1 semester 3 credits.
