HS 453 - The Psychology of Aging Option: PSY 230 Adult Development and Aging
Psychological theories of aging and development are used as a basis for considering the major role changes and adjustments confronting older adults. Topics include the normal challenges posed by retirement, family relationships, sexuality, sensory changes, cognitive and memory changes, and loss. The second half of the course addresses issues of mental health, depression and dementia experienced by many older adults. Special attention is paid to the role of the family caregiver.
This course is applicable to the liberal arts requirements of the curriculum. 3 hours a week 1 semester 3 credits.
