CJ 248 - Women and Crime The focus of this course is on women in the criminal justice system as victims, offenders, and professionals. Relevant theories (such as a discussion of the feminist criminological perspective), policies, and empirical studies, as well as the historical, socio-political, and cultural forces that gave rise to them will be examined. Topics may include: domestic violence and women who kill, women’s trajectory into crime, runaways, drug use, girl gangs, female police officers, and mothers behind bars. Films, speakers.
Prerequisite: CJ 158 3 hours a week 1 semester 3 credits. Fall 2014
