Human Services, B.S. (PGS)

The Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services has been designed to promote the career and educational advancement of practitioners, to improve the health and human services delivery system, and to meet the needs of the individuals and communities which that system serves.

In addition to having met the general admission requirements of the School, students typically have postsecondary education and training and have acquired, through experience, the skills and knowledge appropriate to the degree. Exceptions to this are made with the approval of the Dean.

A minimum of 21 credits with a HS identifier must be taken at St. Joseph’s College (MAT 151 may be applied toward this requirement).

The Department reserves the right to require an additional English writing course(s) at any point in a student’s program if deemed appropriate based on the student’s writing level.

Major Electives: 21 Credits


  • 12 credits from Community Health and Human Services offerings
  • 9 additional credits to be taken in Community Health and Human Services, Health Administration, or related areas.

Social Science: 3 Credits


Liberal Arts Electives: 32 Credits


Other Electives: 41 Credits


Total: 128 Credits
